CLIMATE CHANGE

The main source of climate change is the emission of greenhouse gases (GHG) through energy supply and energy consumption. Many countries have set ambitious targets for reducing these emissions and different instruments are in place to support companies in reducing GHG. The Kyoto Mechanisms – such as Emission Trading (ET), Joint Implementation (JI), the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), and programmatic or sectoral approaches – provide economic and financial incentives to invest in GHG emission reduction. The potential emission-reduction measures are often closely linked with energy and energy efficiency.

At present, new potential instruments are being discussed which could help developing the emission reduction potential of those sectors which are poorly covered by JI and CDM. We offer support for the realization of GHG reduction potential as an additional part of our services to governments and companies in the fields of energy and energy efficiency.
